A thorough cleaning every year is very important to get the best performance out of your heat pump!
Muls, Inc. recommends that you have your heat pump tuned up annually. Heat pumps heats and cools your house by airflow and when airflow is restricted, your heat pump cannot work efficiently. Even though the filters are cleaned during air conditioning season, still there is moisture that can build up on coils and fans. This creates a mildew and mold type of buildup on fan blades and can restrict the airflow as shown on the picture.

How to Check Your Heat Pump |
1. While the heat pump is running, shut off the power by turning off the breaker or pulling the disconnect. Doing it this way, Will allow the louvers to stay open.
2. Take a flashlight and look through the louvers towards the inside of the unit. The fan is approximately 30” long going from side to side.
3. Inspect to see if the fan blades have a buildup of dust, mold, and mildew.
4. If your fan looks like the one in the picture, it is time to have your unit tuned up. All the buildup of dust, mold, and mildew can cut the efficiency up to 80% to 90%. After your unit has been tuned up, the unit should work like the first day that it was installed
